Transformation Sessions with Trevor Lee
Transformation sessions are one-to-one one-hour consults with Chi Choong. In these sessions, healing of your body, mind and spirit are facilitated. These sessions are suitable if you are experiencing stress, health problems, or even have a mental illness (although people with mental illnesses are recommended to visit a psychiatrist simultaneously). Among the modalities used in Transformation sessions are Relaxation Exercises, Self-awareness, and Energy Psychology.
FAQ: Why use these modalities when the most conventional modality in psycho-therapy is Cognitive-Behavioural Therapy (CBT)?
Ans: A lot of research shows that CBT works to improve mood and relieve negative thoughts. However, the results are very gradual, usually with once-weekly sessions with the therapist for a few months at the least. Although I have received training in this, I find the modalities used in my ‘Transformation’ sessions (relaxation exercises, self-awareness and energy psychology) work faster and more deeply. In fact, there is a fair amount of research to back up the effectiveness of these modalities. However, I do bring in CBT techniques if the need arises.
Relaxation Exercises
According to Dr. Herbert Benson of Harvard, 60-90% of all visits to the doctor are stress-related. Practicing relaxation exercises activates the ‘relaxation response’, reducing stress levels, normalizing blood pressure and allowing the body’s natural healing mechanism to assert itself. Managing stress not only helps in peace of mind but in physical health!

Self-awareness
Self-awareness has been practiced for thousands of years in various cultures around the world. A psychologist, Dr. Eugene Gendlin, found that in therapy, clients who had positive outcomes practiced self-awareness (which he called ‘Focusing’) far more than those who did not. With self-awareness, you tune in to your body and ‘listen’ to its messages. With the practice of self-awareness, you can reduce negative emotions, gain more clarity about your life, and even bring healing to physical problems. Step-by-step, repeated self-awareness exercises can help you transform negative emotions and increase inner peace.
Energy Medicine
Energy medicine and energy psychology are emerging fields based on a fresh way of looking at the world. They are based on the principle that everything is made up of energy, including our human bodies. This principle is not a new one: the belief that everything is energy has been part of many cultures around the world for thousands of years.
This energy is known as ‘qi’ by the Chinese, ‘Prana’ by the Indians, and ‘Mana’ in South America. Much more recently, Einstein, in his Theory of Relativity, stated that everything is energy. Modern science’s ‘discovery’ of this has led to television sets, CD players, and micro-chips in computers.
According to the theory of energy psychology, by shifting our energy, we can shift our internal state dramatically. We can heal our body, emotions, mind and spirit.
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT), which is a technique of energy psychology, has been found to an effective way of healing the energy/emotional cause behind illnesses. In brings relief, and in some cases completely heals a wide range of difficulties, such as trauma, minor depression and anxiety, decreasing anger, fear, and even bringing relief to physical problems such as migraine headaches, back-pain, diabetes, arthritis and much more.
Energy psychology is not based on any religion, and is in line with recent scientific theories. People of any religion or belief system can benefit from it.
